Women's Soccer Draws with George Mason in Season Finale

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team took an early lead and then held off a George Mason rally late as St. Joe's battled to a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Natalee Vicari scored her third goal of the season for the Hawks. The tally tied her with Jayda Shehadi for second on the team.
  • Alli Popham made seven saves.
  • SJU garnered points in three of its final four matches of the season.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In the 20th minute, St. Joe's cleared moved the ball through the top of the 18. Jailyn Parrotte took an initial shot that was saved. Vicari pounced on the rebound and drove it to the center of the box where it was stopped by a GM defender. With one more effort, Vicari took another attempt and sailed it through the hands of the keeper for a 1-0 lead.
  • The Patriots drew even with a goal in the 58th minute.
  • Popham helped to make sure the Hawks earned a result with a save on a PK in the 88th minute.
