Saint Joseph’s Seeded Fifth for 2025 Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship
WASHINGTON – The Saint Joseph's baseball team will be seeded fifth for the 2025 Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship, which will begin on Tuesday, May 20, at Capital One Park in Tysons, Virginia.
The Hawks will open the tournament, taking on fourth-seeded Davidson at 11:00 a.m.
Saint Joseph's (24-26 overall, 17-13 Atlantic 10) is the only team to qualify for each of the last five Atlantic 10 Championships dating back to 2021. The Hawks took two out three against the Wildcats (25-27 overall, 18-12 Atlantic 10) this season at Smithson Field, including a 25-15 run-rule victory in the series finale after trailing 8-0 in the second inning.
The winner will take on top-seeded Rhode Island (35-20 overall, 22-8 Atlantic 10), the regular season champions, on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. The Rams took two of three from the Hawks at Smithson Field this week in the final series of the regular season.
Tuesday's second game will feature second-seeded George Mason (36-19 overall, 20-10 Atlantic 10) and seventh-seeded Dayton (26-29 overall, 14-16 Atlantic 10), which clinched its berth through a three-way tiebreaker against George Washington and Richmond. The Hawks were swept at George Mason earlier this month; the previous weekend, Saint Joseph's took two of three from Dayton with a pair of walk-off wins.
The final opening round game will see third-seeded Saint Louis (31-24 overall, 18-12 Atlantic 10) take on sixth-seeded Fordham (25-31 overall, 15-15 Atlantic 10). The Hawks opened conference play with a tight three-game set at SLU, with the Hawks winning the opener and the Billikens taking the final two games of the series. Saint Joseph's swept a three-game series against Fordham at Smithson Field in mid-April.
The double-elimination tournament continues through Saturday, May 24, with the champion earning the Atlantic 10's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. For more information on game times, live stats and streaming links, or tickets, visit Championship Central.
