Verch, Dutton Lead Nine Hawks to Atlantic 10 Men’s Lacrosse All-Conference Honors

Saint Joseph's senior Levi Verch and freshman Ben Dutton were named Atlantic 10 Defensive Player and Rookie of the Year, respectively, the conference office announced on Wednesday afternoon. A total of seven Hawks were named to All-Conference Teams, while three Hawks received A-10 All-Academic honors and two Hawks were named to the All-Rookie Team.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Saint Joseph's senior Levi Verch and freshman Ben Dutton were named Atlantic 10 Defensive Player and Rookie of the Year, respectively, the conference office announced on Wednesday afternoon. A total of seven Hawks were named to All-Conference Teams, while three Hawks received A-10 All-Academic honors and two Hawks were named to the All-Rookie Team.
 
Verch earned his second-consecutive honor after being named Atlantic 10 Co-Defensive Player of the Year, also being named a First Team All-Conference and an All-Academic selection. The Victoria, British Columbia native was a mainstay in a Hawk defense that led the nation in opponent clear percentage (.721), while St. Joe's also ranked in the top 10 in the country in scoring defense (8.29), caused turnovers per game (10.79) and man-down defense (.769). Individually, Verch registered 27 caused turnovers on the season to pace the Hawks. His 1.93 caused turnovers per game rank eighth in the country while entering the Atlantic 10 Tournament with the third-most caused turnovers in a single season in program history. The Canadian's 5.36 ground balls per game ranks second in the country among non-faceoff personnel. Verch opened the season with at least five ground balls in each of the first seven games, registering 10 games with 5+ ground balls and nine games with multiple caused turnovers. In addition to his defensive prowess, the senior added one goal and five assists on the year.
 
Ben Dutton earned his first postseason accolade after concluding a stellar regular season campaign in his debut season, becoming the second-consecutive Hawk to earn Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year honors after Jesse Jason's selection in 2024. The Denver, Colo. native also was named to the All-Conference First Team and the All-Rookie Team, leading the Hawks with 42 goals on the season while blowing past the program's single-season record previously held at 29 goals. On three separate occasions on the year, Dutton matched the previous freshman single-game scoring record before setting the new standard with a six-goal performance against Providence. Dutton leads the conference in goals scored while ranking inside the top 10 in the country with 3.0 goals per game. The rookie netted nine hat tricks on the season and enters the postseason tied for seventh in the program's single-season goal scoring history. Dutton also leads one of the most potent man-up offenses (.450 – 12th in NCAA) in the country with eight man-up goals, leading the A-10 and ranking second in the country.
 
Joining Verch and Dutton with First Team All-Conference honors, Richie LaCalandra earned his first postseason accolade since his back-to-back NEC Offensive Player of the Year honors in the 2021 and 2022 seasons while at LIU. The Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. native leads the Hawks both in scoring (50) and in assists (25), proving to be an integral part of the Hawk offense. LaCalandra's 3.85 points per game and 1.92 assists per game rank in the top three in conference play. Registering six games with at least five points, LaCalandra set season-highs with eight points in wins over Penn and Hobart. The attackman was named Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week on four separate occasions, adding five caused turnovers and 13 ground balls on the year.
 
Ryan Bradley was one of four Hawks to be named to the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team after the long-stick midfielder produced his best season on Hawk Hill. The senior played in all 14 games for the Hawks, finishing second on the team with 21 caused turnovers and 44 ground balls. Bradley registered seven games with multiple caused turnovers. Against A-10 foes, Bradley produced eight caused turnovers and 17 ground balls. The Holmdel, N.J. native was part of a defense that ranked in the top 10 in the country in scoring defense (8.29), caused turnovers per game (10.79) and man-down defense (.769).
 
Mark Watters earned his first all-conference honors with a nod on the Second Team, providing a goal-scoring threat for the Hawks from the midfield. The Orillia, Ontario native started in all 13 of his appearances on the season, scoring 25 goals to tie for second-most goals on the squad. Watters recorded five games with a hat trick performance, tallying a season-high with four goals against High Point. The Canadian added a three-goal performance against UMass, scoring nine goals in five A-10 games. Watters recorded a team-high .741 shot on goal percentage while adding two caused turnovers and five ground balls on the season.
 
Christian Marchini also secured Second Team accolades, the short-stick defensive midfielder playing in 12 games on the year. The junior caused five turnovers on the season while registering nine ground balls. In attack, Marchini was able to tally a goal and an assist from his defensive role. The Schwenksville, Pa. native was part of a clear team that ranked second in the conference, successfully clearing on .879 percent of attempts.
 
Liam Quinn rounds out the group of Hawks named to the All-Conference Second Team after being an integral part to the St. Joe's defense. The junior defenseman started in all 14 games for the Hawks, tying for third on the team with 12 caused turnovers. Quinn recorded at least two caused turnovers in four of his five games against A-10 opposition, finishing conference play with nine caused turnovers. A native of Chester Springs, Pa., Quinn produced a highlight moment with his only goal of the season, going end-to-end against Drexel before netting a behind-the-back finish. Quinn provided a major piece to the Hawk defense that ranked eighth in the country in man-down defense after keeping offenses scoreless in .769 percent of man-up opportunities. In addition to his All-Conference nod, Quinn also earned Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team honors.
 
Griffin Mallory was the third Hawk to register a spot on the A-10 All-Academic Team after a successful season for one of the team captains both on and off the field. Mallory started in all 14 games in the midfield for the Hawks, adding seven goals and 11 assists on the season. His 18 points were tied for fifth-most on the squad while adding four caused turnovers and seven ground balls to his stat line on the year.
 
Michael Waite was the final of nine Hawks to receive recognition after being named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team. The long-stick midfielder was an important piece to the faceoff personnel, playing in all 14 games on the year with five caused turnovers and 14 ground balls in his rookie campaign. Waite wrapped up the regular season with a goal against Richmond, recording at least one ground ball in each of the final 10 games of the season.
