First Pitch
The Saint Joseph's softball team takes part in the Atlantic 10 Softball Championship May 7-10 at the GW Softball Field in Washington, D.C. The Hawks come into the tournament as the No. 5 seed.

Hawks In The A-10 Tournament
Saint Joseph's is making its 25th appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship with an overall record of 34-46 in the tournament. The Hawks have competed in the championship game four times, most recently in 2016.

On The Rise (Part I)
Under the leadership of head coach Gina McCool, SJU is in the conference championship in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2021 and 2022. McCool is just the second coach in program history to lead St. Joe's to the A-10 tournament in her first two seasons since Moo Moyer in 2002 and 2003.

On The Rise (Part II)
At 28-23 heading into the conference tournament, the Hawks are guaranteed their first season with a winning record since they went 26-20 in 2021.The 28 victories are the most since 2019.

Anyone, Anywhere
Saint Joseph's has claimed 17 victories in either road or neutral contests this season, including 10 wins in true road games and a 7-5 mark in A-10 away tilts. It is the most non-home wins since 19 in 2019.

Productive Outs
Some way, somehow, SJU usually finds a way to get the runner home from third. Saint Joseph's leads the A-10 and is in the top-50 nationally in sacrifice flies. Individually, Riley York is fifth in NCAA Division I with seven SF on the season.

Milestone Watch
Sarah Cancila has a shot at etching her name further into the program record books. She currently has 92 walks and is two away from tying for second all-time in program history. Her 112 runs scored are seventh all-time and are three away from sixth and she needs one more stolen base to take fifth place all alone. She has also appeared in 193 games, ninth most in team history. Not to be forgotten, Kayla Tauber is three hits away from becoming the 28th player at SJU with 150 career hits.

Milestones Achieved
Several Hawks have reached milestones this season with Cancila recording her 150th hit and Meghan Sinkus, Sierra Fretz and Hailey Malito each getting their 100th. With her second punchout against St. Bonaventure on Saturday, Taylor Trowbridge became the 16th player in program history to notch 200 in a career.

Heading Into The Tournament Hot
Meghan Sinkus picked up her production in a big way at St. Bonaventure this weekend. She went 5-for-9 against the Bonnies with two triples, a double, six RBI and five runs scored. All of her RBI came in the second game of the series as it was the most runs driven in during a single game for St. Joe's since 2021. The extra base hits were her first since March 29 against Saint Louis.

Going Yard
With her 10th homer of the season on April 19 against GW, Sierra Fretz became just the seventh player in program history to record double figure homeruns in a season. The team record is 14 from Caela Abadie in 2021.

Rare Feat
With her 4-for-4 performance against Dayton on April 27, Hailey Malito became the first SJU player to record four hits in a game since Jessica Gaughan did it on May 8, 2023 at St. Bonaventure. It is just the fifth game with four or more hits by a St. Joe's player this decade.

1-2-3-4-5
Starting with her final at-bat at Dayton on April 26 and through the first game of Sunday's twinbill, Malito collected hits in five consecutive trips to the plate. She is the fifth player in Division I this season to accomplish the feat and the first since Ella Wesolowski of Mississippi State did it April 12-13. Among the five hits were two doubles and a triple.

Get On The Board First!
Playing with the lead may seem like a good formula for winning for any team, but Saint Joseph's frontruns as well as anyone in the nation. The Hawks are 22-2 when plating the opening run of the contest, adding to the mark by going 2-0 this past weekend at St. Bonaventure when scoring first.
