Five Members of Men's Basketball Honored in Postseason Big 5 Awards

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's basketball team was recognized well by the Philadelphia Big 5 in its postseason awards as the Hawks had two major award winners and three First Team honorees.

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's basketball team was recognized well by the Philadelphia Big 5 in its postseason awards as the Hawks had two major award winners and three First Team honorees. 

Head Coach Billy Lange was voted as the Big 5 Coach of the Year. Justice Ajogbor took home the Scholar-Athlete Award. Erik Reynolds II, Rasheer Fleming and Xzayvier Brown were all selected to the First Team and Brown was the Big 5's top free throw shooter. 

Reynolds graduates as the St. Joe's all-time leader in points with 2,175, three-pointers made with 350 and free throw percentage at 86.8. He averaged 16.0 points per game this season, scoring in double figures 25 times, eclipsing the 20-point mark on 14 occasions. He was named the Big 5 Classic MVP for his 24 point, four assist performance, was the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week twice and the USBWA National Player of the Week once. 

Fleming averaged 14.7 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game on his way to A-10 First Team accolades. He posted a career-high 26 points twice, hitting the number in back-to-back games against Charleston (Dec. 10) and American (Dec. 18). He was a force on the glass, ranking in the top-25 of NCAA Division I with 6.5 defensive rebounds per game and his nine double-doubles were second in the conference and were 56th nationally. Fleming was named to the Legends Classic All-Tournament Team in November, averaging 15.0 points and 13.5 rebounds against No. 24 Texas Tech and Texas at the event. He grabbed an A-10 season-high 20 rebounds against the Longhorns. 

Brown led the Hawks in scoring at 17.6 points per game and was third in the A-10 at 4.3 assists per game. He was in double figures in all 32 games he played this season and scored 20+ in 14 contests. He posted four double-doubles on the season, two with points and assists, netting 18 points and 13 assists against Villanova (Nov. 12) and a 17 point, 10 dime effort at Duquesne (Jan. 8). Brown was also tops at the line in the Big 5 at 89.7 percent. 

Ajogbor posted a 3.53 GPA as a graduate student pursuing a certificate in applied investment analysis. He led the A-10 and was fifth nationally with 86 blocks, which are eighth on the SJU single-season list. He was a member of the A-10 All-Defensive Team and the Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Team. 

Lange led the Hawks to 20 win seasons in back-to-back years for the first time since 2003-04 and 2004-05. Saint Joe's also participated in a national postseason tournament in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2013 and 2014 and he guided SJU to its second straight Big 5 Classic title
