PHILADELPHIA – Sarah Fisher scored early in the match, but a late goal by Penn saw the Quakers edge the Saint Joseph's women's soccer team, 2-1 on Thursday night.

PHILADELPHIASarah Fisher scored early in the match, but a late goal by Penn saw the Quakers edge the Saint Joseph's women's soccer team, 2-1 on Thursday night.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • For Fisher it was her first goal of the season and the third time in four matches she recorded a point.
  • Emily Hanrahan and Chelsea Leal each recorded an assist.
  • The goal by Fisher 17 seconds in is one of the fastest goals in SJU history. Jen Pfeiffer scored 10 seconds into the contest against Duquesne on October 30, 2011.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Hawks wasted no time in getting on the board as off the opening tap, St. Joe's played the ball down the right side. Receiving a pass from Chelsea Leal, Hanrahan one-touched the ball past the defense. Making a perfectly timed run, Fisher was on the connecting end of the feed and sent it pass the Quakers' keeper for a 1-0 lead just 17 seconds into the match.
  • Penn drew even 13 minutes later, scoring off their first corner attempt of the contest.
  • The game remained that way until the 80th minute when the Quakers found the back of the net with the game-winner.

UP NEXT
St. Joe's closes its non-conference schedule, traveling to Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday, September 14. Opening tap is scheduled for noon.
