Quinlan Steps Down as Head Coach of St. Joe’s Women’s Rowing Program
PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph's Vice President and Director of Athletics Jill Bodensteiner has announced that head coach Gerry Quinlan has stepped down from his role as head coach of the women's rowing program.
"I want to thank Gerry for everything he did for our women's rowing program here on Hawk Hill. He recruited and developed great student-athletes and led them to extremely competitive results," said Bodensteiner. "We respect his decision and wish him the very best."
Serving as head coach since 1999, Quinlan led the Hawks to their only Atlantic 10 Championship, capturing the conference crown in 2011, while St. Joe's captured the Dad Vail Men's and Women's Overall Point Trophy three times (2005, 2006, 2010). Quinlan, who served as a leader in the development of the Robert M. Gillin, Jr. Boathouse, was recognized as the 2012 Matthew Ledwith Coach's Award recipient and A-10 Coach of the Year in 2009. This past season, Saint Joseph's finished fourth at the A-10 Championship, while the Novice 8 captured the Sara Vaughn Trophy at the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta.
Saint Joseph's will undertake a national search to fill the coaching position in the coming weeks.
