Saint Joseph's Vice President and Director of Athletics Jill Bodensteiner has announced that Taylor Wray has stepped down from his role as head coach of the men's lacrosse program to become the head lacrosse coach at the University of Pennsylvania. Saint Joseph's Associate Head Coach Scott Meehan has been promoted as the fifth head coach of the Hawks.

"We want to thank Taylor for his 14 years of unwavering dedication and leadership to the men's lacrosse program at Saint Joseph's University. Under Taylor's guidance, Saint Joseph's has become a premiere program nationally that annually competes for an NCAA Tournament bid, and we can't thank him enough for everything he has done," said Bodensteiner. "Personally, I have the utmost respect for Taylor as a coach and a person, and I wish him and his family the very best."

Over Wray's 14 seasons at Saint Joseph's, the Hawks excelled both as a program and individually. Posting a 127-79 overall record, Wray led the St. Joe's to two NCAA Tournament berths (2022, 2024), nine conference regular-season titles and two conference championship crowns. Individually, 97 Hawks garnered All-Conference accolades, while six earned All-American status and 15 earned USILA Scholar All-Americans honors. Wray's success extended beyond Hawk Hill as Saint Joseph's produced four professional draft picks in recent years, highlighted by Levi Verch's selection as the 13th overall pick in the 2025 PLL Draft by the Carolina Chaos. 

"As we move forward, I am excited and more than confident that Scott Meehan is poised to lead our men's lacrosse program to future success," Bodensteiner said. "Scott has been a transformative part of the team's success since coming to St. Joe's in 2019, and is highly respected by our student-athletes and his peers."

Joining the Hawks in January of 2019, Meehan quickly made an impact for Saint Joseph's as quickly excelled to the top of the NEC, capturing a pair of regular-season titles, the 2022 NEC Championship crown and the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. One of the top offensive-minded coaches in the country, Meehan has helped the Hawks to a 12-3 mark since joining the A-10, including the 2024 A-10 Championship. Over the past three seasons, St. Joe's has continually ranked among the national leaders in clearing percentage - ranking 13th in 2025 (.880) and 1st in opponent clear percentage (.724) while also ranking in the top-15 for scoring margin, including 13th (3.00) this past season.

Under Meehan's guidance, several Hawks have shattered program records and ranked among the top scorers in the country. Individually, Levi Anderson and Matt Bohmer set new program records for career points (223) and goals (149), respectively, while Carter Page set a new single-season mark for goals with 52 in 2022. In 2025, A-10 Rookie of the Year Ben Dutton led the conference and ranked sixth nationally in goals per game (3.13), and joined Richie LaCalandra as 42nd (3.67) and 47th (3.57) in the country in points per game, respectively.

"I am humbled and honored to take over as head coach of the Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse program. I want to thank Jill Bodensteiner and Dr. McConnell for their vote of confidence and entrusting me with this opportunity," said Meehan. "I would like to thank Taylor Wray for his mentorship over the past seven seasons and wish him nothing but the best moving forward. I am excited to build on the strong foundation that he has established for the men's lacrosse program on Hawk Hill."
