Baseball Falls at Delaware, 5-1

The Saint Joseph's baseball team fell at Delaware, 5-1, on Tuesday night at Bob Hannah Stadium.

NEWARK, Del. – The Saint Joseph's baseball team fell at Delaware, 5-1, on Tuesday night at Bob Hannah Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Delaware (22-17) took the lead in the bottom of the second after Aaron Graeber drew a bases-loaded walk.
 
• Aiden Stewart doubled the lead for the Blue Hens with a solo home run to start the third before a two-run shot by LT Cockrill doubled the advantage again in the bottom of the fourth.  Andrew Amato then scored in the fifth on a failed pickoff attempt to make it a 5-0 game.
 
• Saint Joseph's (18-19) got on the board in the seventh; Joey Pagano and Owen Petrich singled to start the frame, and two batters later, a groundout by Tim Dickinson brought home Pagano to close out the scoring.
 
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Jonah Richardson tossed three shutout innings to earn the win for the Blue Hens, while Jackson Campbell allowed two runs, one of them earned, in three innings to take the loss.
 
• Pagano, Petrich, and Alex Kelsey each reached base twice for the Hawks.
 
Sam Davies made his season debut for the Hawks, while Logan Franks recorded his first collegiate appearance.
 
UP NEXT
The Hawks host Dayton for a three-game set beginning on Friday.
