Baseball Drops Series Finale at George Washington

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Owen Petrich once again got things started for Saint Joseph's (23-24 overall, 16-11 Atlantic 10) with a solo home run in the top of the second, but the Revolutionaries scored three in the bottom of the inning on a single by Charlie Walsh and a double by Ellis Schwartz.
• George Washington (26-24 overall, 13-14 Atlantic 10) added to the lead in the third on an infield single by Sam Gates; a two-run single by Gates in the fifth followed by a Conlon Walker sacrifice fly and Schwartz getting hit with the bases loaded pushed the hosts' advantage to 8-1.
• Tim Dickinson drew a two-out walk for the Hawks in the sixth, then stole second before scoring on an Aidan Duda single, but Gates added an RBI groundout in the bottom of the frame to make it a 9-2 game.
• The Revolutionaries' defense helped the Hawks close the gap in the seventh as Joey Gale reached on an error to start the inning before advancing on a wild pitch. After Alex Kelsey was hit by a pitch, Carson Applegate reached on another error, allowing Gale to score; two batters later, Petrich lofted a sac fly to score Kelsey and cut the deficit to 9-4.
• GW got the runs back in the bottom of the frame on a Charlie Rogan sac fly and a throwing error.
• Kelsey was hit by a pitch to start the ninth and moved up to second on a wild pitch; a groundout by Pagano two batters later brought him home with the final run of the game.
