Field Hockey Announces 2025 Slate
MERION STATION, Pa. – Saint Joseph's field hockey head coach Hannah Prince has announced the squad's schedule for the upcoming fall season. The Hawks will take on three teams that played in last year's NCAA Tournament and four teams that finished the season ranked in the NFHCA Coaches Poll, including two from the top five, in addition to the traditional Atlantic 10 slate.
"We're excited for what's ahead this fall," Prince said as she prepares for her fourth season leading the program. "Our 2025 schedule is packed with competitive matchups that will challenge us and prepare us for championship play. This group is hungry, focused, and eager to get back on the field."
The Hawks come into 2025 after enjoying the finest season in program history in 2024, winning the program's fourth consecutive Atlantic 10 tournament crown and its sixth in seven seasons before earning one of four national seeds for the NCAA Tournament on the way to a semifinal win over top-ranked two-time defending national champion North Carolina and a trip to the first national championship game in the history of Saint Joseph's athletics.
After exhibition games at home against Monmouth and at Temple, the 2025 regular season begins as the previous one did, with a trip to Durham, New Hampshire, for a neutral-site game against UConn on August 30 before a contest with host New Hampshire the following day.
The top programs in Pennsylvania will then meet once again as the Hawks visit Penn State on September 7. A trip to Maryland awaits the following weekend as SJU meets American in College Park on September 12 before taking on the host Terrapins two days later.
Saint Joseph's kicks off Atlantic 10 play on Friday, September 19, as Saint Louis comes to Ellen Ryan Field for the Hawks' home opener; perennial ACC powerhouse Louisville then visits Hawk Hill on September 21 for the first-ever meeting between the two programs. The Hawks will then host Delaware three days later before wrapping up a four-game homestand with a game against Lehigh on September 26.
A pair-of in-state matchups follow as the Hawks head up the road to Conshohocken to take on Villanova on September 28 before a conference game at Lock Haven on October 3. SJU then returns home for a league game against VCU on October 10 before hosting crosstown rival Drexel two days later.
The final road trip of the season sees the Hawks take on A-10 rival Richmond on October 17 before a matchup against another nationally prominent program in Liberty on October 19.
Returning home, the Hawks will welcome Davidson to the Maguire Campus for an Atlantic 10 game on October 24 before hosting Penn two days later; the regular season then concludes on October 31 with a home tilt against La Salle to close out the league slate.
The Atlantic 10 semifinals are set for November 6, with the championship game to be held on November 8. The NCAA Tournament kicks off the following weekend at campus sites before culminating with the semifinals and championship game November 21 and 23 at Duke's Jack Katz Stadium in Durham, North Carolina.
