Five Podium Finishes Highlight ECAC Outdoor Championships

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Saint Joseph's women's track team secured five podium finishes, three individual and two relay, at the ECAC Championships over the weekend at George Mason Stadium.

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Saint Joseph's women's track team secured five podium finishes, three individual and two relay, at the ECAC Championships over the weekend at George Mason Stadium.

The Hawks finished ninth at the meet, scoring 46 points over the two-day meet. 

SATURDAY TRACK RESULTS

  • Jessica Rubio opened up events on the track in the 400m, finishing with a time of 57.07s to finish in 12th.
  • Atlantic 10 All-Rookie selection Sammy Walz earned a spot in the 100m finals on Sunday, finishing with a personal-best time of 11.88s in the event. The time marked the fastest of the heat, third overall, and automatically registered a trip to the finals. Olivia Binns recorded a time of 12.31s seconds.
  • Four Hawks scored in the 800m, led by a second-place finish from Tess Crossan. Crossan's time of 2:10.19 just narrowly missed out on the top spot, finishing less than half a second off of first place. Quinn O'Brien followed just behind Crossan, her effort of 2:11.79 earning a spot on the podium with a third-place finish. Majken Lutzen became the third-consecutive Hawk to cross the finish with a time of 2:12.62 to place fourth. Alexis Westawski finished eighth to secure a point with her time of 2:14.14. The Hawks tallied 20 if their 24 points on the day in the event. Gemma Chevoor placed 15th with a time of 2:15.57.
  • Ava Curry secured the final four points on the day's action in the 5000m, recording the fifth-fastest time with an effort of 17:42.11.

 
SATURDAY FIELD EVENTS

  • Lily Ferguson was the only Hawk to compete in a field event, her best leap in the long jump coming at 5.20m.

 
SUNDAY TRACK EVENTS

  • Walz returned to the track to open the day for the Hawks, besting her prelim time in the 100m by .02s to take third place in the 100m finals.
  • Samantha Korck, Chevoor, Westawski and O'Brien teamed up in the 4x800m relay, finishing second after crossing the finish line in 8:54.47.
  • Walz, Crossan, Lutzen and Rubio closed out the event in the 4x400m relay, also finishing in second with a time of 3:46.66.
