Three Earn Atlantic 10 Men’s Tennis All-Conference Second Team Honors
WASHINGTON – Sophomores Othman Bezzaz and Ernesto Ruy and freshman Santiago Valle were named to the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis All-Conference Second Team, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
A Preseason All-Conference selection, Bezzaz tied for second on the team with 15 singles victories, including a blistering 9-2 mark in the fifth flight. The Casablanca, Morocco, native also collected 10 doubles wins, totaling 25 overall victories, good for a tie for second on the squad.
Hailing from Atizapan de Zaragoza, Mexico, Ruy also collected 15 singles wins, with 11 of them coming in the second flight, and teamed with Bezzaz for 10 doubles wins in the top flight. He posted two separate five-match winning streaks this season and was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on March 19.
Valle led the Hawks with 17 singles wins, 14 doubles wins, and 31 overall victories in his first season on Hawk Hill. He was an impressive 10-4 in the third singles flight as a freshman and also collected 10 doubles wins in the second flight. The San Luis Potosi, Mexico, product was named the Atlantic 10's Rookie of the Week on March 19 and April 1, and was the league's overall Player of the Week on April 15.
