Men's Basketball Coach Lange Discusses Roster Movement
Thank you Justice, Derek, Anthony, Dasear, Will, Mekai, Khaafiq, Steven, Kevin, Billy and our two incoming freshmen, Austin Williford and Owen Verna for their steadfast loyalty and commitment to St. Joe's.
It speaks volumes of their character, their appreciation of the nurturing SJU community, and impact of our program's culture.
The new normal in college athletics is the transfer portal and NIL. We are in a state of growth and have an opportunity to adapt and be proactive while maintaining transcendent and stable pillars that are true to the core of the story of St. Joe's basketball.
Our recent portal additions speak to that tradition and our current trajectory. Jaiden Glover-Toscano is a dynamic, multi-skilled, athletic, winning, two-way guard with a high upside and a desire to be great. He is the highest rated recruit in the history of St. Joe's basketball. His heart is what separates him as he is selfless, an ultra-competitor and a team first guy, with a fearless mentality. We can't wait to help him chase his dreams on Hawk Hill.
Deuce Jones has the DNA of a Saint Joseph's guard. He will make those that have been in that position proud to have worn the Crimson and Grey. He exudes swagger and passion, creating confidence in his teammates by the way he attacks the moment. We hated preparing for him – which is the ultimate compliment from a coaching staff. He was our conference's Rookie of the Year and has so much room for development. His work ethic is going to elevate our gym.
Al Amodou is pure energy. He attacks with his voice and his play. For the past 24 months, he has competed in a program culture that models many of the same things we believe in here on and off the court. He has versatility on both ends because of his intelligence and athleticism. He has been well coached his whole life at every level, loves to learn and can improve rapidly in our development structure. We are thrilled to have steward this next stage of his basketball journey.
I am grateful to our entire staff. We have created a developing, loving, resilient environment that reflects the entire brand of Saint Joseph's University. Our remarkable 4-year retention rate is evidence of young men finding their scholastic and athletic dreams come true here on Hawk Hill. Equally important, they have a place they can call home.
