Colton Book Named Atlantic 10 Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week
WASHINGTON – Saint Joseph's redshirt junior lefthander Colton Book was named the Atlantic 10 Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
The Manheim, Pennsylvania, native was outstanding once again on Sunday, tossing eight innings and scattering four hits, allowing two runs and walking just one batter in a game the Hawks would go to win, 4-3, to clinch the weekend series against Dayton. Book fanned 13 Flyers, including eight of 10 hitters he faced during one stretch, to record his fourth 13-plus strikeout performance of the season. In the game, he became the first Hawk to eclipse the 100-strikeout plateau in a season; his 105 strikeouts currently lead the Atlantic 10 and rank second in Division I.
Book shared the honor with Fordham's Mike Rabayda.
It is the fourth Atlantic 10 weekly honor of the season for Book, who previously earned Pitcher of the Week accolades on February 17 and April 7; he also shared the award on February 24.
The Hawks will host Villanova on Tuesday before hitting the road for consecutive Atlantic 10 series at George Mason and George Washington.
