WASHINGTON – Saint Joseph's freshman center fielder Alex Kelsey was named the Atlantic 10 Baseball Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

Kelsey reached base safely in all four games last week, collecting six hits, five walks, three runs scored, and a pair of stolen bases.  In Tuesday's rout of Villanova, he went 3-for-3 with four walks, reaching base in all seven of his plate appearances as the Hawks crushed the Wildcats, 17-8.

The Reading, Pennsylvania, native posted a .579 on-base percentage during that stretch, earning his first Rookie of the Week honor of the season.  He currently ranks second on the team with a .325 batting average to go with a team-leading 54 hits, 29 walks, and .452 on-base percentage.

The Hawks return to action on Friday at George Washington.
