Novice 8 Captures Sara Vaughn Trophy To Highlight Women's Rowing's Performances At Jefferson Dad Vail
PENNSAUKEN, N.J. – The Saint Joseph's Novice 8 captured the Sara Vaughn Trophy to highlight a stellar day at the 2025 Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta for the Hawks. Along with the Novice 8 capturing gold in its Grand Final, St. Joe's Varsity 8 also earned bronze in its Grand Final.
How It Happened
• Entering as the top team in the Novice 8 Grand Final, Saint Joseph's showed why it was the top boat in the event as the Hawks won by open water with a winning time of 7:05.880.
• The Hawks bested their nearest competition, Marist, by nearly 14 seconds to earn the Sara Vaughn Trophy.
• St. Joe's Varsity 8 opened the morning in one of the most highly-contested races on the weekend as it battled Drexel and Georgetown down the course.
• The Hawks crossed the finish line in a time of 6:39.721 to earn bronze, less than a second behind the Hoyas and 1.3 seconds behind the Dragons.
• Saint Joseph's Varsity 4 unfortunately did not compete in its Petite Final due to injury.
