Freiwald Named A-10 Softball Rookie of the Week
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Marla Freiwald of the Saint Joseph's softball team was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the week ending April 6. It is the second time this season she is earning the honor.
Freiwald scattered six hits and struck out four across eight innings during the week. On the weekend against Rhode Island she tossed a scoreless inning during the opening game, an 8-7 Hawks win in nine innings. In the second game of the doubleheader, she allowed one run in five innings before the game was suspended due to darkness. Freiwald then came out and tossed a scoreless inning to end the game the next morning.
The Hawks are back in action on Wednesday, April 9 when they host Fordham in an A-10 doubleheader. First pitch from the SJU Softball Field is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
