Saint Joseph's Athletics Mourns the Passing of Robert C. “Bobby” Morgan
Saint Joseph's Athletics mourns the passing of Robert C. "Bobby" Morgan, the longtime director of athletics and men's basketball coach at the University of the Sciences.
Morgan joined USciences (then Philadelphia College of Pharmacy of Science) as its men's basketball coach in 1968, and over 31 seasons posted a 598-250 mark that included eight NAIA District Coach of the Year awards and four NAIA national tournament appearances. Serving as athletic director for 34 years, Morgan oversaw tremendous growth at USciences, including the addition of women's sports, membership in the CACC and transition to NCAA Division II, and the opening of an Athletics & Recreation Centerd and its 1,000 seat basketball arena. The arena was christened the Robert C. "Bobby" Morgan Arena in honor of him.
Morgan was also part of the inaugural CACC Hall of Fame Class in 2015, and also was enshrined in the NAIA Hall of Fame, Drexel University Hall of Fame, Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science Hall of Fame, and the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame - Delaware County Chapter.
Friends and family are invited to calling hours from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30th, at Rigby Harting & Hagan Funeral Home, 15 E. Fourth St. Media, PA 19063. Burial at Washington Crossing National Cemetery will be private.
